Skiathos

The Name comes from Skia (shadow) and Athos (the Holly mountain in Chalkidiki where only male monks live). On a clear day, the holly mountain of Athos casts it’s shadow, on this blessed Island. The Island where green stops, only where the blue begins. From the clear blue skies to the bright green pine forests to the nice blue sea. Your eyes don’t know where stop to admire first.

What’s not to like about this magical place? More than 60 beaches in less than 20 km of space, allowing you the option to go, from one beach, to another in matter of minutes. The golden sandy beaches of the south and south west, to the rocky and wild beauty of the northen side. The tall green trees only stop where the saltwater starts. Places with deep historical value such as, Bourtzi, the fortress that was built in 1204 after the Fourth Crusade by Venice , the old town of Kastro founded in 1360, a place made to defend from the turkish pirates , the monastery of Evangelistria where the fist greek flag ever designed in 1807, the port o Xerxes (Mandraki), Nikotsara’s port , the places such as Tarsanas with the long ship making tradition that has fed whole generations of Islanders (including our geat grandfather and his entire family), are only a few of those.

In addition Skiathos has also been the birthplace of the two Alexanders, Papadiamantis and Moraitidis the incredibly talented writers who will be admired for there skill and foresight until the end of times. From the small traditional paved streets, to the local taverns and restaurants with traditional greek flavours and fress fish, to the boat trips in the clear blue waters with seagulls and dolphins keeping you company and a nightlife that will satisfy every taste.
